Bandportals Rolls out Chumbawamba Web Sites for Readymades album on Republic/Universal

June 19, 2002 - New York - In support of their 11th studio album, Readymades, out June 18th (Republic/Universal,) Chumbawamba has secured services of Bandportals for the creation Chumba.TV, Chumba.org and Bandportals project/campaign management site. In keeping with their past and present exploits to demonstrate their activism through their music, which until now has been available on their infamous Chumba.com site, the band now has multiple interactive platforms to support their message through the new Readymades album as well as their deep music archive.

Chumba.TV was created by flash innovators Motiongraphiks. Philip Mokbel, Creative Director, who designed the site, encompassed a post-modern look that embodies the band's appreciation for Russian constructivism art. In addition to the site, the dynamic e-card and presentation for the Readymades album was developed to reflect the look of the "Dada" art movement. The site is a complete multimedia center that provides new and old fans access to the vast archive up to present day music, videos and home movies. For existing fans of past releases (the multi-platinum) Tubthumper and WSYWIG, a complete archive of rare and controversial material is finally available. Features include a flash player that allows users to hear the entire Readymades album, view their Documentary episodes and previews of their documentary film "Well Done, Now Sod Off" and download offbeat versions of "Tubthumping" by other artists.

Chumba.org is an activist arts portal that the band maintains themselves, using Bandportals self-updating platform. The site was created to move the band further into the alternative media spotlight as pundits and to have an outlet to poke fun at society as well. They are lending support to international artists who have a political message behind their art as well. Covering the latest in art, media, film, music, the band will report on and allow for submissions of new and interesting media content by others, which will be published on the site and later streamed on Chumba.TV. Features include music, literature, film/tv, and a complete list of political groups and activist media links. It also includes in-depth discussion groups (that go beyond the music talk), comedic advice columns "Ask Britney" and "Ask Bono," as well as a complete links guide to activist culture on-line.

Chumbaportal is the Bandportals web-based project management service, which supports the day-to-day activities and follows the marketing campaign for the new Chumbawamba album. By utilizing the web-based service, the bands management Doug Smith Associates can interact more closely and share info/documents with those involved with the campaign thru the secure intranet and project/campaign manager. Members include the band, Universal Records, Koch and Zomba distribution overseas, The Agency Group, JLM Public relations and everyone else involved with the project.
